Morbid? Hmmm, maybe. These are photos of various bones and bits in my collection. All were found or gifts (I do not hunt, and have not bought any dead things at this time).

  • Bone pile -- Random bones. A vertebra and a deer jaw with teeth. There is also quite a bit of petrified wood, which was given to us by a family friend because it was possibly home to a poltergeist... yeah. Pic taken Sept. 11, 2001.
  • Cat -- One of several domestic cat skulls I have. This is one of the larger ones. Pic taken Sept. 11, 2001.
  • Coyote -- Probably the gnarliest looking of the bones, I found the coyote dead of unknown causes at the edge of a pasture in Aloha, OR, while riding my horse. I waited for the 'yote to rot before collecting. It has some vertebrae attached and is kind of banged up from rough handling (by a dog... oops!). Unfortunately it's missing many teeth. Pic taken Sept. 11, 2001.
  • Mule Deer -- Given to me by a friend who lives in Central Oregon. A very pretty skull... pretty sure it's a mule deer. If I'm wrong I'm sure the deer experts out there will let me know. :) Pic taken Sept. 11, 2001.
  • Deer Spine -- Probably a mule deer. The latest addition to my collection at the time these photos were taken, it's a nice percentage of the spine, plus pelvic bone and many ribs, still connected. It was aquired in the mountains near McMinnville, OR, on September 1st, 2001. Pic taken Sept. 11, 2001.
  • Elk -- Just part of the skull of an elk, found many years ago in the Coast Range, probably near Timber, OR. Pic taken Sept. 11, 2001.
  • Horse -- A horse skull, found near Diamond Mill, spring 2000, by my dad and some motorcycle riding buddies. One of my favorites, pretty darn big and in great condition. Pic taken Sept. 11, 2001.
  • Goblin! -- This is another of my favorite skulls, and very small. It's a domestic kitten (or possibly a demon!). It has some very unique characteristics compared to my other cat and kitten skulls. It was found in a neglected tree farm in Aloha, OR. Pic taken Sept. 11, 2001.
  • Kitten-Goblin Annotated -- Above pic with notes. There are tooth marks in the top of the skull, which were probably aquired by whatever killed it. Oh, how I wish I was a forensic pathologist! The front bicuspids completely overlap on both sides. The whole top jaw juts forward, so the front canines stick straight out. Pic taken Sept. 11, 2001.
  • Nutria -- One of two nutria skulls, I got this particular nutria Sept. 23rd 1999 on Rock Creek, the suburban street I grew up on. However, it was recently dead roadkill rather than these nice clean bones displayed. I had my mom stop the car on the way to the animal shelter to look at dogs, and since it was my birthday, she let me bring it home in the back. I buried it in the backyard and these are the bones I kept after digging it up. Femur, ribs, lower jaw, skull, vertebrae and more. Pic taken Sept. 11, 2001.
  • Other Nutria -- The other nutria skull, found as is in the abandoned tree farm around the same time as the goblin. The teeth really stand out on this one. Pic taken Sept. 11, 2001.
  • Deer Pelvic Bone -- The first bone ever in my collection! I got this bone when I was 6 years old or so. Some hippie-esque older folks we were camping with found the skeleton in Timber, and I brought this and a couple vertebrae home. Special because of that! That couple once came to our house as well and the woman showed me how to draw trees using dots for leaves. And once while we were camping, I made a rug for in front of their camper door out of moss, until I saw a bug on it. I'm sure they were oh-so-grateful. ;) Pic taken Sept. 11, 2001.
  • Cat Bits -- Jay gave me these bones as a Christmas gift. They're bleached, unlike my other skulls, and so very pretty and bright. Various leg bones, all the vertebrae, and the lower jaw. Recieved at the New Years party, 2003, pics taken early Jan., 2003.
  • Deer Bits -- Also from Jay for Christmas (I got him a National Geographic iceman mummy kit, which one thaws and dissects). A couple vertebrae and the lower jaw bones of a deer (I presume). Recieved at the New Years party, 2003, pics taken early Jan., 2003.
  • Crow Claws -- Currently one of only a few dead things I own that aren't just bones. I would like to drill holes in at least a couple of these and make them into a necklace. These claws (cleaned, dried and so on) were given to me by Jana/Maly at ConiFur in October, 2002. Pic taken Jan. 27, 2003.
