Frequently Asked Tserish Questions (FATQ)

Who is Tser?

Tserisa is a Dragon. Tserisa is Draconic (considering oneself to have a notable amount of Dragonness, comparable to trans-speciesed, real Dragon, Otherkin, and Therianthrope).

Tser is very vocal about her Draconic heritage, and has been known to proclaim it to family, friends, psychiatrists and strangers on the street. So far no one has locked her up in a loony bin because of this (but there have been other reasons! heh).

Is Tser crazy (loopy, loony, insane, etc.)?

Short answer: Yes. Little bit longer answer: Yes, but it has nothing to do with believing she's a Dragon. The craziness is completely seperate. A Dragon is a very sane thing to be.

What does "Tserisa" mean?

The meaning is private. The name "Tserisa" is true to her self, as "Dragon" is her true form. Her full Draconic name is Tserisa Cerrisious Velvetwing, with the latter two added mostly because they "sounded cool" rather than any special spiritual significance. Velvetwing because it's the stereotypical Dragonish name (watch soon for an Insta-Dragon Kit on this site!), and Cerrisious was the name of a Warrior Dragon character in a story Tser wrote many years ago.

Tser is an acceptable nickname. ('Risa is most definitely not.) Trouble pronouncing it? A Guide to Pronounciation (including .wav files!) has been added for your linguistic comfort.

What does Tser look like?

Appearance

Name: Tserisa Cerrisious Velvetwing, Tserisa, Tser
Species: Velvetwyrm, Dracovelvetis nigrum
Color: Pure matte ("velvety") black.
Eyes: Dark brown, almost black.
Length: 44' (13.4 m), snout-to-tailtip

Appearance, Other:

Tserisa's most notable feature is that her scales and bat-like wings feel like velvet to the touch (but she is not fuzzy!). This is due to minute fringing on each scale. She has no horns, frills or other ornamentation on her head. She does, however, have a small flexible ridge along the length of her tail. Her tail is prehensile (able to grasp). Another outstanding feature are her long, expressive ears, which are equal in length to her skull. Her muzzle is small and elegant. Tserisa is quadrupedal and has four wicked, sharp black talons on each foot (anisodactyl, three pointing forward and one back).

Thanks SO much to the artists who drew her. :) Also a "how-to" page, and a really really nifty Tserisa Pic Rendering Program written by Steve.

What kind of Dragon is Tser?

Tser is a Velvetwyrm. Jokingly, she refers to this species in mock Latin "scientific nomenclature" as Dracovelvetis nigrum. For reference, she is "Western" or "Heraldic" in type -- four legs and (traditional "bat-like" or "leather") wings.

Who is Tserisa as a role-play character?

The Tserisa portrayed in role-plays differs slightly from the real Tserisa, mostly to make stories more interesting. Think of her as a fictionalized version of a real person. Although Tser doesn't RP often, she very occassionally joins in on the Gryphon's Guild RP boards, and often allows other people to use her as a character in stories, with permission. She's shown up in several Guild fics by Crystal "Phoenix" Shekeira, and Gravis, as well as stories elsewhere.

Character Special Abilities, Weaknesses and Other Notes:

Tser is fireproof. She is impervious to heat, and can withstand fire and even swim in lava.

Tserisa is a vegetarian/herbivore.

She hates swimming and getting wet in standing water (lakes, pools, etc.), but she loves rain, storms, and thunder. During thunder and lightning storms, Tserisa usually wants to be flying out in it.

Tserisa can breathe fire.

She has no magical ability and is not telepathic.

Tserisa's natural habitat is temperate rainforest (cool, wet, green). Dry and hot places are very uncomfortable to her, although she finds natural beauty everywhere.

Unique to Tser are her tears; they are rolling drops of flame until they lose contact with her scales, when they cool and harden into a rare, iridescent crystal called lachrydrakonite.

For humorous, silly and insane RPs and stories only, or comic relief:

Tserisa has an additional breath weapon -- nontoxic citrus-scented mosquito repellant (with aloe!).

She is very distracted by shinies. Shiny things (such as anything silver, pretty crystals or rocks, a well cared-for sword, large amounts of ice, anything iridescent, even a sparkling lake at sunset...) may cause her to go into a Shiny-Pretty Induced Trance. She will gravitate towards such objects just to stare at them. Gold, brass and other "yellow" metals, on the other hand, have no such effect.
