What is "Real Dragon"?
"Real Dragon" is a mailing list hosted on Yahoo! Groups.
How old is Real Dragon?
Real Dragon was founded January 1999.
Purpose
The purpose of the Real Dragon List is to provide forum for Dragons. It is meant as a list for people who are Draconic; i.e. Dragon Otherkin, those who are connected to Dragons in some way, spiritual Dragons, etc. It is not a roleplay list -- there are plenty of those groups out there.
Topics
Topics are wide and varied, with a focus on how it pertains to Draconity. Discussion on this list may get heavy or hard-core -- the nature of Draconity, philosophy, the afterlife and souls, temporal and spacial theory, physics, psychic and occult phenomena, purpose and will, religion, physiology, and so on are all quite welcome. Nothing as it pertains to Dragons is too serious, or too light-hearted!
Topics which don't pertain to Dragons at all are also allowed, at this time. If this becomes a problem, however, more strict controls of on topic discussion will be enforced.

Attachments, Virus Warnings, Chain Letters, Flames, X/NC-17 Rated Discussion
Netiquette
Posters to Real Dragon are expected to follow basic netiquette. More information can be found at http://www.darkmountain.com/netiquette/index.shtml.
Flaming, Personal Attacks
Flame Wars ("Fewmet Flings") are a big no-no. All participants risk getting banned from the list, since every post involved fans the flames.
Spoilers
When discussing fictional books or movies, please keep in mind that not everyone will have seen or read it, and it would be nice to warn folks you're going to be talking about events in the fiction onlist. Provide spoiler space.
Management
Real Dragon is not a democracy nor republic. It is a Benevolent Dictatorship ruled by Tserisa. This is meant to keep politics from ruining our group. It's "benevolent" because Tserisa is very willing to listen to ideas, criticism, requests, etc. But what she says goes, no questions asked.
Real Dragon is unmoderated. Anyone may join, and anyone may post. Because of this, content is not monitored, and what is posted isn't controlled by anyone. This means that it's your responsibility to keep yourself safe and sane when reading Real Dragon mail and to understand the rules. Violators of posting guidelines will be banned.
If you have a problem with something someone posted to the list, or with someone who belongs to the list, contact that person privately, or contact admin. DO NOT hash it out on list!
Disputes
Hopefully everyone on the list is mature enough to handle personal disputes personally and maturely. If you have a problem with someone, delete the mail from them or avoid getting in discussions with said person. If you are being harassed or abused by another subscriber through or because of the list, contact admin.
Legal stuff
There are no age limits on Real Dragon. Because of this, discussion should be limited to content that is "R"-rated at the very most. There are other lists dedicated to Dragon-related discussion of a more adult nature. Bringing adult discussion to Real Dragon brings in all sorts of legal complications -- so don't do it.
Don't ask for or discuss anything illegal on the list. This includes cracks, warez, etc.
Don't post works (art, writing, etc.) that don't belong to you. Respect copyrights.
Privacy of our subscribers is of utmost importance. Not all Dragons are "out" about their Draconity. Because of this, archives are available to members only. No information provided to the admin will be shared, sold, or distributed in any way.
Cross-posting, both to the list and from it, is strictly forbidden without the author's permission. This includes posts with the header information stripped.
Rules and Discipline
More detailed information about the rules can be found at http://groups.yahoo.com/group/realdragon/files/rules.txt and are posted monthly to the list. These rules are available to anyone who would seek them -- ignorance is no excuse for breaking them. Discipline includes being set nopost or being banned, at admin's discretion.
